What is Cyber Security??

Before knowing what is Cyber Security let us talk something about evolution of this concept.
The concept began with a research project in 1949. The researcher named Bob Thomas designed the first virus program named Creeper, it was designed in such a way that it can travel between Tenex(TEN-Extended, an OS for DEC PDP-10) terminals on the early ARPANET(The Advanced Projects Agency Network). It prints “I’M THE CREEPER: CATCH ME IF YOU CAN.”

Ray Tomlinson, inventor of email gone through the idea and appreciated it. At the same time he tried to create the program and designed it to self-replicate itself-the first computer worm. Then he wrote another program-Reaper, world’s first antivirus software which held the power to chase Creeper and delete it.

In the late 1988, Robert Morris wanted to extend the size of internet. He wrote a code designed to propagate across networks, infiltrate Unix terminals using a known bug, which copy itself. His code proved to be mistaken which cause The Morris worm replicated so aggressively that the early internet slowed down to a great extent and caused great damage.

Lets come back to Cyber Security. What is Cybersecurity?

Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting networks, systems, websites, and programs from digital attacks. These cyberattacks are usually aimed at CIA.

What is CIA??

Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability

To get access to someone’s sensitive information you need to collect all the required outfits of the target, the second thing you need to do is to check the integrity of your target how secure your target is, the final operation is to check the availability and exploit the target. DAMN HACKED!!!
Isn’t it cool?

Why is cybersecurity important?

In the present Era of Technology, everyone is curious about maintaining information online worldwide. Companies developing their websites for sharing information and holding data of its client and employees. Furthermore all these things are made by humans and it is human tendency to commit mistake, where there is a mistake, there is a vulnerability, and when there is a vulnerability there is a chance to loose information and data, which cause great loss of the targeted victim. To defend these attacks Cybersecurity came to existence.

The core functionality of cybersecurity involves protecting information and systems from major cyberthreats. These cyberthreats take many forms (e.g., application attacks, malware, ransomware, phishing, exploit kits).

In the next article i will post what is the future of Cybersecurity , Can we opt it for career opertunity and laws of Cybersecurity.
